YT video download: a practical format and saving guide

Copy the individual video link
Open the video and copy its watch-page address or youtu.be share link. A channel, search page, or playlist does not select the individual video you want. If your link came from a playlist, open the intended video and copy its own URL. Check the title shown after fetching before you prepare a file.
Fetch formats before choosing quality
Paste the link into the YouTube downloader and select Fetch video. Compare the quality, type, and file size in the results. The list comes from the source, so a particular resolution is not guaranteed. A higher resolution can help with small on-screen text, but it cannot add detail that the source video never contained.
Check whether your selection includes sound
Choose Video + Audio when you want a normal viewing copy with sound and that option is offered. Video only does not contain an audio track. For listening, select an available audio-only option such as MP3 or M4A. Do not assume the highest video resolution includes sound; read the type label beside that specific format.
Prepare the file, then save your copy
Select Prepare file for your chosen format and wait for the ready message. Preparation happens before Download now becomes available. Sizes marked with ~ are estimates; the exact size appears when preparation finishes. Files must be within 500 MB and videos within 2 hours. Choose a smaller available format if your selection exceeds the file limit, then save promptly because prepared files are temporary.
Respond to the specific error
For an invalid link, copy the individual video's address again. For missing formats, confirm the source still contains the video. Removed, sign-in-only, protected, or otherwise restricted content cannot be fetched through this public-link workflow. A public link can also fail because the source temporarily limits requests. Wait before retrying rather than repeatedly submitting the same link.

Can I download a whole YouTube playlist?
This workflow prepares one individual video. Open the video you want from the playlist and use its own watch-page or share link. Playlists and active live streams are not supported.
Why does my saved file have no sound?
Check whether you selected Video only. Fetch the link again and choose Video + Audio if offered. The service cannot create audio when the source provides none.
